Family Table

groceries TBB’s partnership with Family Table (a program of Jewish Family and Children's Service) makes it possible to meet the growing needs in the ever-increasing number of Jewish families experiencing food insecurity. As with other food pantries throughout the nation, Family Table is currently experiencing a decrease in donated food products. Family Table's partnership with the temple, along with our continued help this coming year, is essential for their ability to continue to provide life-sustaining food to their recipients.

TBB has been assigned to collect 25 boxes of kosher graham crackers and 25 boxes of kosher couscous or kasha monthly for the 2009-2010 year. A driver is needed to drop off the monthly allotment of food to Family Table at 1430 Main Street, Waltham, between 8:30-10:30am. The collection dates are all on Sundays. The dates a driver is needed are:

  • September 13, 2009
  • October 18, 2009
  • November 15, 2009
  • December 13, 2009
  • January 10, 2010
  • February 7, 2010
  • March 14, 2010
  • April 11, 2010
  • May 16, 2010
  • June 13, 2010
  • July 11, 2010
  • [no August distribution]
  • September 12, 2010
If you can deliver the food on only one day, that is fine. Please let Susan in the TBB office (617-625-0333) know when there is a delivery date that is good for you. Family Table requests acknowledgement of a delivery driver a week in advance of the delivery date!

Ten drivers are needed on Sunday, January 10, 2010. That is the date that Family Table has scheduled TBB for its hands-on Tzedakah experience for children and adults. You would be helping to pack and deliver food to recipients. That day's schedule would go like this:

  • 8:30am - 10:30am Set up
  • 9:00am - 10:30am Donation drop-Off
  • 11:00am - 12:30pm Orientation & bagging
  • 11:30am - 3:30pm Home deliveries
