Israeli Folk Dancing
Israeli dancing continues, two Sundays a month, from 7:00–9:00 pm. Please come and enjoy
the spirit-lifting music and exercise. We do a mix of easy and intermediate dances,
taught and reviewed by Raphael Gottesman, and newcomers are always welcome. The program
is geared for adults (teens and older).
Upcoming sessions are June 28 and July 12. Due to a change in summer plans, there will be no dancing dates during August. July 12 will be our last session for the summer, and we'll resume dancing in October. Dates do change from time to time, so if you're not already on the dance email list, please sign up here. Suggested donation: $3 for adults, $2 students. Please bring soft-soled shoes to protect the floor.
Literacy Team: TBB partners with the Healey School
For the past several years, TBB members have volunteered their time to tutor students at
the Healey School in Somerville as part of the
Greater
Boston Jewish Coalition for Literacy.
It's a rewarding and fun experience, the tutors agree. Volunteers meet once per week
with their student, reading books and playing games designed to boost literacy.
TBB member Darlene Matthews coordinates the program; GBJCL provides free training
and ongoing support.
[more pictures and info...]Family Table
TBB’s partnership with Family Table (a program of Jewish Family and Children's Service)
makes it possible to meet the needs of the growing number of Jewish
families experiencing food insecurity. Family Table is currently experiencing a
decrease in donated food products and needs our help to provide life-sustaining food to
children and adults who need it.
TBB has been assigned to collect 25 boxes of kosher graham crackers and 25 boxes of kosher couscous or kasha monthly for the 2008-2009 year. We also need one driver on one Sunday every month to transport food from TBB to Family Table in Waltham.
Jewish Family & Children's Service
Jewish Family & Children's Service cares for individuals and families by providing
human service and health care programs, guided by Jewish traditions of social
responsibility, compassion, and respect for all members of the community.
JF&CS is especially responsive to the needs of vulnerable members of our community:
newborns and their parents, individuals with
developmental
disabilities or persistent mental illness, families at risk, and
the frail elderly.
See the JFC&S website
for more information.
