Literacy Team: TBB partners with the Healey School

For the past several years, TBB members have volunteered their time to tutor students at the Healey School in Somerville as part of the Greater Boston Jewish Coalition for Literacy. The program is funded by the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston. It's a rewarding and fun experience, the tutors agree. Volunteers meet once per week with their student, reading books and playing games designed to boost literacy. TBB member Darlene Matthews coordinates the program; GBJCL provides free training and ongoing support. This past year we had 8 volunteers working with 9 students. More volunteers are needed for next year; please email TBB if interested.
