Caring Committee
The Caring Committee at TBB handles requests and coordination for help for members of our community. Many of you have stepped up and given time and help to those in need over the years. We hope to build on and strengthen this legacy of care.
The Caring Committee is co-chaired by Rachel Schwarz and Anita Ballesteros, who are joined by Dennis Fischman, Susan Sklan, Lynne Eisenberg, Aaron Helsinger, and Sara Secunda. We can be reached at caring@templebnaibrith.org.
We are looking for input and ideas from the TBB community as to the types of help and need we will hopefully be able to provide. Toward this end, we are creating a database of volunteers willing to help when possible. Please fill out our form if you would be willing to help!
No task will be too small: a visit to someone who is homebound, a drive to a doctor's appointment, a ride home from a medical procedure, preparing a meal, making a phone call, just to give a few examples. Volunteers will determine how much and how often they can help.
Meal Trains for Community Members
The first task that the Caring Committee is taking on, is to help set up meal trains for those in our community with a sudden need. We will be using Lotsa Helping Hands to track meals and volunteers in our own TBB “community.”
Volunteer!
We need volunteers to cook and deliver meals, so please fill out our form or reach out if you can help.
Note: Signing up as a volunteer does not mean that you are committing to help whenever we receive a request. We have no such expectation or any expectation. You will be on the list of people we notify of a new need, and we appreciate any assistance that you can provide.
Who has a Need?
We also rely on the temple community to let us know when someone in our community would benefit from meal assistance. If you know of someone with a death, an illness, a new family member, or who otherwise is in need of a few home cooked meals, please pass that along as well to caring@templebnaibrith.org.
Note: Unfortunately, particularly as we get started, we can't guarantee that we can meet every need, and we can't yet provide all the forms of care that we might want (like rides or visits). We do hope to widen our pool of services in time.
